01The short version
This policy explains what the Hubister app and this website collect, why, who helps us run them, and the choices you have. “Hubister”, “we” and “us” mean Hubister, which runs the app. It covers the iPhone app and hubister.com.
02What we collect
Your account
- Email address, to sign you in with a one-time code or link. There is no password.
- Your name, and a profile photo if you add one. Your coach sees these too, if you have one.
- Your answers when you start: what you’re after, what brings you here, and the habits you pick.
- Your time zone, taken from your phone, so reminders and weekly summaries arrive at the right hour.
What you log
- Habits and the days you do them.
- Food: meals you describe or photograph, the foods and amounts in them, and diet plans.
- Training: workouts, sets, reps and weights, and training plans, including a PDF or photo of one you upload.
- Body: weigh-ins, measurements, goals, check-ins and progress photos.
Apple Health, only if you connect it
With your permission, Hubister reads steps, active energy, water, sleep, workouts (with their routes) and weight from Apple Health. It uses them to fill in your habits, score your sleep, map your walks and runs, and track your weight, and it stores what it reads in your account so your history is there on any phone. Hubister never writes to Health. Workout routes include the locations you moved through; they are used only to draw the map of that workout.
Data from Apple Health is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared with anyone except as you direct (your coach) or as described under “Who we share it with”.
Camera and microphone
Used only when you take a meal or progress photo, or hold the record button for a voice message. Hubister doesn’t read your photo library beyond the photos you pick.
Coaching and messages
- Coaching requests you send or receive, and the intake answers you share with a coach.
- Messages with your coach or clients: text, photos, voice notes, reactions and quick replies.
- Reviews you leave for a coach, which show in Find a coach with your name.
- Reports you make about a message, and the moderation records that follow.
If you apply to coach
Your public coach profile (name, photo, bio, city, experience, what you offer and your prices) and the certificate you upload. Certificates are seen only by the Hubister team, to verify your qualifications; your profile is shown to everyone who uses Find a coach.
When you report a problem
What you write, a screenshot if you include one, the app version, your device model and where you were in the app. We use these only to fix the problem.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, your device’s push token, so we can send reminders, messages and coach updates through Apple’s push service.
The waitlist on this website
If you join the waitlist, we store your email address and when you joined, in our Supabase database. We use it only to tell you when Hubister is on the App Store, and we delete it on request. Only the Hubister team can read the list.
What we don’t collect
No advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics or crash trackers, no contacts, and no location other than the routes of workouts you choose to sync from Health. This website sets no cookies and runs no trackers; it only remembers your light or dark choice in your browser, and stores your email if you join the waitlist.
03How we use it
- To run the app: show your day, your history and your progress, and keep it in sync across devices.
- To connect you with a coach you choose, and let you message each other.
- To read meals, diet plans, workouts and exercises with AI when you ask it to.
- To send the reminders and notifications you’ve turned on, like the 8 pm nudge when habits are still open.
- To keep Hubister safe: verify coaches, act on reports, and pause or remove people who break the rules.
- To answer you when you write to us, and to fix problems you report.
We don’t use your data for advertising, and we don’t build profiles of you for anyone else. If you’re in the EEA or the UK, we rely on: performing our contract with you (running the app), your explicit consent (health data, Apple Health, the camera and microphone, notifications), and our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure and working (moderation and bug reports). You can withdraw consent at any time in the iPhone’s Settings or in Profile.
04AI features
When you describe or photograph a meal, or ask Hubister to read a diet plan, a workout plan or an exercise, the text, photo or PDF is sent from our server to Anthropic, whose Claude models read it and return foods, amounts and macros, or a plan. Our server sends only what you submitted for that request, not your account details or history. Under Anthropic’s commercial terms, what we send is not used to train its models.
AI readings are estimates. Check them before you save. Each person can make a limited number of AI requests a day.
06Security and storage
Data travels over encrypted connections and is stored encrypted at rest. Access is enforced in the database itself, row by row: you can read your own data, a coach can read a client’s only while coaching them, and photos and certificates are kept in private storage. Our providers may process data outside your country; where they do, we rely on safeguards such as the EU’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever affects your data, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
07How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as you have an account. Delete your account from Profile and your account and everything in it, including logs, photos, messages you sent and Health data we stored, is deleted for good. Copies in our encrypted backups are overwritten within 30 days.
Some records may be kept longer where the law requires it, or where we need them to deal with a report of abuse. Reviews you left for a coach are removed with your account.
08Your choices and rights
- See and change your data in the app, at any time.
- Disconnect Apple Health, or limit what it shares, in the iPhone’s Settings → Health → Data Access.
- Turn off notifications, the camera or the microphone in the iPhone’s Settings.
- End coaching at any time, and your coach stops seeing new data.
- Delete your account from Profile, with everything in it.
Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access a copy of your data, to correct it, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to have it in a portable format. Write to contact@hubister.com and we will answer within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
09Children
Hubister is not meant for anyone under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has given us data, write to contact@hubister.com and we will delete it.
10Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date below, and tell you in the app before a change that matters takes effect. The policy lives on this website, so it can be updated without a new app release.
